TITLE: LIVING IN A WORLD THAT INVENTS WAYS TO DO EVIL

タイトル: 悪を企む世に生きること聖句: "また、彼らは神を知ることに価値を認めなかったので、神は彼らを無価値な思いに引き渡されました。それで彼らは、してはならないことを行っているのです。彼らは、あらゆる不義、悪、貪欲、悪意に満ち、ねたみ、殺意、争い、欺き、悪巧みにまみれています。また彼らは陰口を言い、人を中傷し、神を憎み、人を侮り、高ぶり、大言壮語し、悪事を企み、親に逆らい、浅はかで、不誠実で、情け知らずで、無慈悲です。彼らは、そのような行いをする者たちが死に値するという神の定めを知りながら、自らそれを行っているだけでなく、それを行う者たちに同意もしているのです。" ローマ人への手紙　1章28～32節観察: パウロがローマにいるクリスチャンに語ったことは、私たちの現代社会で起こっていることをまさしく物語っています。人々は、神様の知識を持つことに価値があるとは思っていません。神様の知恵を軽視し、それを抑えこもうとするとき、人は堕落した心で生きることになります。その人の人生に神様の知識がないことは、その人に悪を表現する自由を与えることになります。人が堕落した心を持つと、してはいけないことをするようになります。人は、神様に関するものすべてを憎むようになります。堕落した心は、悪を行う方法を見つけ、それを続けていくだけでなく、それを実践する人をも是認してしまいます。パウロは、真理を知っていながら嘘を信じ続けている信者たちに向けて、このように書きました。クリスチャンである私が、神様が何をしたらガッカリするかを理解しながら、世の中の真理を除く方向に心を曲げ続けるとき、私の心はもはや神様の真理を受け入れなくなります。聖書が神様を否定していると呼ぶライフスタイルを人間が見つけようとすることを心が許し始めると、私たちの心は神様の真理から外れてしまいます。イエスさまは、わたしが道であり、真理であり、命であると言われました。世間では、このことばは狭い考えで、変化する世の中にそぐわないと受け止められてしまっています。真理であるイエスさまには、世界が私に受け入れさせようとしていることに歩調を合わせ変化する必要がないことを感謝します。パウロは、クリスチャンに対して強い言葉で注意喚起をしています。これは信者でない人への手紙ではなく、キリストを信じる人たちに向けた手紙です。神様の知恵と真理に反対する世界観を受け入れ、神様の知識を抑圧し続けようとしているクリスチャンたちへの手紙です。私は、今生きている社会に蔓延る毒のような考え方から、自分の心を守らなければならないという気づきを得ます。イエスさまの真理を私の心と思いにしっかりと刻み込みたいと思います。この邪悪で変質的な世界において、信者としてどのように生きるかが問題です。適用: 私は、他の人から心が狭いと思われても、自分の思いのうちにイエスさまの真理を日々持ち続けていきます。私は、世の中の見方に私に影響されてしまうのではなく、私の人生においてキリストが栄光を受けるのを見ていたいと願います。私は、私の考え方を変え、神様の知識に反する世界観を受け取ろうとする世の意図するところから、私の心と思いを守ることにコミットします。祈り: イエスさま、あなたが私の心と体にある真理の本質であられると宣言します。私を混乱させ、嘘を信じさせようとする世の中の霊の巧妙さを見分け、注意するよう教え続けてください。日々、私の心の前に現れる偽りの意見や考えを見分けることができるよう私を教えてください。あなたは真理であり、何ものも私からそれを奪うことはできません。あなたの真理が私を自由にしてくれていることに感謝します。

SCRIPTURE:

“Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.” (Romans 1:28—32)

OBSERVATION:

Paul’s address to the Roman believers mirrors what is happening in our modern world today. People do NOT think it worthwhile to RETAIN the knowledge of God. Whenever men disregard and suppress God’s wisdom, they will live with depraved minds. The absence of the knowledge of God in a person’s life gives them the freedom to express their evilness. When a person has a reprobate mind, they will do what one ought not to do. People become haters of the things of God. A depraved mind INVENT WAYS of doing evil, and not only do they continue to invent ways to do evil, but they also approve of those who practice them.

Paul wrote these to the believers who know the truth yet continue to believe a lie. When I, as a Christian, understand what God is not for and yet continue to bend my mind toward excepting the world’s view of truth, my mind will no longer accept the truth of God. When our minds start to approve of men’s invention of lifestyles that the Bible calls godless, our minds slip from God’s truth. Jesus said I am the way, the TRUTH, and life. The world may sound like this narrow thinking and inappropriate for our changing world. I am grateful that Jesus, the Truth, does not have to change to fit the narration the world wants me to accept.

Paul had strong words and reminders for Christians. This is not a letter to non-believers but a letter to those who believe in Christ but continuously suppressed the knowledge of God for acceptance of a worldview opposing God’s wisdom and truth. I am reminded to guard my heart and mind against the poisonous thinking of the society I am living in today. I want to keep Jesus’ truth firmly embedded in my mind and spirit. The question is, HOW THEN SHALL WE LIVE AS BELIEVERS IN A WICKED AND PERVERSE WORLD?

APPLICATION:

I will keep Jesus’ truth daily in my thinking process even though others may think I am narrow-minded. I desire to see Christ be glorified in my life rather than have the world’s view affect me. I am committed to guarding my mind and spirit against the world’s agenda to alter the way I think and to receive a worldview against God’s knowledge.

PRAYER:

Jesus, I declare that you are the essence of Truth in my mind and heart. Continue to teach me to discern and be aware of the subtleness of the world’s spirit to confuse me to believe a lie. I pray that you teach me to discern falsehood views and ideas that parade themselves before my mind daily. Thank you, for you are the TRUTH, and nothing will take that away from me. I am grateful for your truth that has set me free. Amen!
