タイトル:  神様の召し 聖句: "こうしたことのため、私たちはいつも、あなたがたのために祈っています。どうか私たちの神が、あなたがたを召しにふさわしい者にし、また御力によって、善を求めるあらゆる願いと、信仰から出た働きを実現してくださいますように。 それは、私たちの神であり主であるイエス・キリストの恵みによって、私たちの主イエスの名があなたがたの間であがめられ、あなたがたも主にあって栄光を受けるためです。" テサロニケ人への手紙 第二　1章11～12節 観察: パウロは、テサロニケの人々に、試練の中でキリストにある希望を思い起こさせようとしています。そして、迫害や試練に耐えている彼らの忍耐と信仰をほめたたえました。 また、彼らが信仰を深め、互いへの愛を深めていることも称えています。クリスチャンの人生は、私たちの周りにある困難とは無縁ではありません。 しかし、パウロは、あらゆる試練に耐えると同時に、兄弟姉妹の信仰が深まり、愛が増すことについて熱く彼らを励ましています。イエスさまに仕えるには、あらゆる迫害や試練に耐える忍耐が必要です。 私は自分の力だけでは決してイエスさまに仕えることはできません。  他の人からの迫害はないかもしれませんが、様々な試練には直面しています。 試練や迫害は、他の人の態度や、自分の周りの物事に対する自分の態度から来るものです。 私の試練は、他の兄弟姉妹にしてもらえると私が思ったことを、彼らがしないことに原因があるのかもしれません。 私の試練は、他人との人間関係におけるストレスから来ます。 しかしパウロには、テサロニケの信徒たちが、信仰を深め、互いの愛を深め、試練に耐え忍ぶことを学ぶ人々であると見えています。 パウロは、テサロニケの信徒たちを自分たちの祈りの中に覚えているからと励ましています。 パウロの祈りは、イエスさまに仕え、イエスさまと共に歩む姿勢の大原則を表しています。
  1. a)    わたしたちを召しにふさわしい者にしてくれるのは神様です。
  2. b)   善を求めるあらゆる願いをもたらしてくれるのは神様の力です。
  3. c)    信仰から出た働きを実現してくださるのは神様の力です。
私が行うすべてのことは、神様がその召命にふさわしいものとしてくださるのだという気づきです。神様は私を召され、その召にふさわしい存在にしてくださっています。 私は、神様に認めてもらおうとか、私のすることがすべて価値あるものになるようにしようなどと考えてはいけないのです。 私が神様のためにすることは、すべて無駄ではありません。 それは、神様がやっておられるゆえに、そこに価値が存在するからです。 また、神様の力が私の中に働かなければ、私がしようと望むあらゆる良いことは実を結ばず、あらゆるビジョン、あらゆる働き、あらゆる計画において、何も神様にとってふさわしい実を結ぶことはないという気づきが与えられました。 今日、聖霊は、私が神様のためにすることのうち、信仰によらないものは実を結ばないことを私に教えてくれています。 信仰によらないものはすべて罪です。 言い換えれば、私がイエスさまのためにしていることのうち、信仰に促されていないものは、神様の目的を達成することはありません。 もし信仰によって促されていないなら、私は自分がするよう召されていることすべてに対して不満を持ってしまうでしょう。 適用: 私はイエスさまに従い、信仰を深め、信仰の兄弟姉妹への愛を増していきたいと思っています。 信仰が増し、愛が増すということは、すべてを見るとき、ある種の試練となり、難しいことと思いますが。 私は、私が行うすべてのものは、信仰によって促され、神様の目に価値があるものとしたいと思います。 私が持っているすべての良い願いやビジョン、そして計画に実を結ばせてくださる神様の力にもっと寄り添い、信仰に促されてすることにが実を結ぶようになることを切に願います。 祈り: イエスさま、私をあなたの召しにふさわしくしてくださり感謝します。 試練が、信仰を深め、人への愛を深めることを妨げとならないと、思い出させてくださり感謝します。 私が行うすべてのことに実を結ばせているのは、あなたの力であることの気づきに感謝します。 私が、目に見えるものでなく、信仰によって歩むことができるように助けてください。 あなたが私に望まれていることを、肉ではなく、信仰によって促され行うことができるように助けてください。 私は毎日あなたに目を向けます。 聖霊が私を導き、あなたがこの人生の中で計画しているすべてにおいて、私を導いてください。

TITLE:  GO MAKE YOU WORTHY OF HIS CALLING

SCRIPTURE:

“With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith. 12 We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.” (2Thessalonians 1:11—12)

OBSERVATION:

Paul reminded the Thessalonians of the hope that they have in Christ in trials.  He praised them for their perseverance and faith in all the persecution and trials they were enduring.  He also praised them for their growing faith and increasing love for one another.  The Christian life is not immune from difficulties that are all around us.  But Paul so enthusiastically encouraged his brothers and sisters of their growing faith and increasing love despite all the trials they must endure.  Serving Jesus needs perseverance in all the persecution and trials we must endure.  I can never be able to serve Jesus with my own power and strength.   I may not face persecution from others, but I face trials of many sorts.

They come from others’ attitudes or my own attitude toward things around me.  My trials with other believers may come because I don’t see them do what I thought they are able to do.  My trials come from stress in relationships with others.  Yet Paul saw believers in Thessalonica as people who grew in their faith, increase in their love for each other, and learn to persevere and endure in trials.

Paul encourages the believers in Thessalonica that they are keeping them in their prayers.  Paul’s prayers bring out great principles of attitude in serving and walking with Jesus:

  1. IT IS GOD WHO MAKES US WORTHY OF HIS CALLING
  2. IT IS GOD’S POWER THAT BRINGS TO FRUITION FOR GOODNESS
  3. IT IS GOD’S POWER THAT BRINGS TO FRUITION EVERY DEED PROMPTED BY FAITH

I am reminded that everything I do, it is God who makes me worthy of his calling.  He has called me and made me WORTHY of that calling.  I must not think likely of God’s approval and making everything I do become of value.  All that I do for God is not in vain.  There is value in it because God is doing it.

I am also reminded that without God’s power working in me, every good thing I desire will not be fruitful, every vision, every ministry, every plan, nothing will bare God-worthy fruits will be seen.  The Holy Spirit reminded me today that anything I do for God that is NOT prompted by faith, will not bear fruits.  Anything that is NOT of faith is sin.  In other words, whatever I am doing for Jesus that is not prompted by faith falls short of God’s purpose.  If not prompted by faith, then, I will complain, about everything I am called to do.

APPLICATION:

I want to follow Jesus and keep growing in faith and increase my love for my brothers and sisters in the faith.  I know it is difficult to see how faith can increase and love, when I see everything, I do it as a trial of some sort.  I want to see everything I do through be prompted by faith and deem worthy in the eyes of God.  I will lean more into the power of God to bring fruits to every good desire, and vision plans that I have, and have him bring fruits to what I do that is prompted by my faith in him.

PRAYER:

Jesus, thank you for making me worthy of your calling.  Thank you for reminding me that trials do not have to keep me from growing in faith and increasing in love toward others.  I am grateful for your reminder that it is your power that brings fruits to all that I do.  Help me to walk by faith and not by sight.  Help me to do what you ask me to do prompted by faith and not by my flesh.  I look to you daily.  Holy Spirit lead me and guide me to all that you plan for me to do in this life.  Amen!
