TITLE: WHAT DO YOU DREAM ABOUT FOR YOUR LIFE
SCRIPTURE:
“God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore. 30 Solomon’s wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the people of the East, and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt. 31 He was wiser than anyone else, including Ethan the Ezrahite—wiser than Heman, Kalkol and Darda, the sons of Mahol. And his fame spread to all the surrounding nations. 32 He spoke three thousand proverbs and his songs numbered a thousand and five. 33 He spoke about plant life, from the cedar of Lebanon to the hyssop that grows out of walls. He also spoke about animals and birds, reptiles and fish. 34 From all nations people came to listen to Solomon’s wisdom, sent by all the kings of the world, who had heard of his wisdom.” (1Kings 4:29—34)
OBSERVATION:
God promised Solomon that he would give him what he requested of Him. Solomon could have asked for long life, wealth for himself, and God to destroy all his enemies. God asked a specific question to Solomon in a DREAM. Solomon responded by saying, give me wisdom and knowledge that I may be able to lead these great people of yours.
Here, God GAVE Solomon wisdom, very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the seashore sand. I get to ask many people what their dreams are. And I also hear their responses to that question. I must be honest that I respond to that question the same way as those I ask. Often the reactions are, “I want to be a successful businessperson, I want to influence others for a good purpose, I want to be a humble leader, or I want to be a visionary. I want to make more money for the kingdom. As great as all these dreams are, and the list goes on, the best plan is the one Solomon answered God in his dream.
Wisdom and Knowledge are so needed in life. Godly insight and Godly knowledge are ONLY given to us by God. God did promise Solomon; that I will provide you with even the things that you did not ask for. God is a giver of great gifts. He fulfills our dreams when we commit and submit our ways to him. He GAVE Solomon so much more than what he could ever dream of. Solomon’s dream was not about his agenda and purpose. It was about God’s agenda and purpose. My dreams should not only be about me being successful but about God blessing me so I can bless others.
God gave Solomon unique gifts, WISDOM AND VERY GREAT INSIGHT, AND A BREADTH OF UNDERSTANDING AS MEASURELESS AS THE SAND OF THE SEASHORE. This is a powerful reminder of what God can do when I submit all my dreams and plans. When the hand of God is on one’s life, he does not just want to bless you with what you ask for. He will bless you even more with things you have not asked for. God is generous when our heart is right and seeking what his plans and agendas are. We live for the pleasure of God.
God’s success cannot be measured by money but by purpose and influence. Solomon spoke 3000 proverbs; he wrote songs numbered 1005. His knowledge of science was something of a marvel. He knew plant life, animal life, giant Cedar to the hyssop that grows out of walls. He knew birdlife and fish life, and his influence drew people to come and learn.
God’s DREAM FOR OUR LIVES IS SO MUCH BIGGER THAN JUST WHAT WE WANT TO DO FOR HIM.
APPLICATION:
Today is a great reminder that God answers prayers according to his will. God is not limited in speaking to me about his purposes and plans through his word but also dreams. However, I learned that my dreams must be dreams from God. I will continue to submit to God to do what is on his heart. I want to bring all my dreams to Jesus and let Him guide and lead and bring blessings to the dreams according to his will.
PRAYER:
Father, I am grateful for your word. Thank you that you want me to dream the dreams in your heart. Help me to always focus on what is on your heart and mind so I may do them accordingly. I know that you bless what you ordain for me to do. I want to be obedient to the dreams and visions that bring glory to you. Lead and guide me to ask the things that please you. In your name Jesus, Amen!
